You can do this. You know how to get up and out of bed for work every morning, even though the courage to face the day is barely there. You are passionate about your career even though it’s stressful. Anxiety is your baseline. You have a hard time asking for help. You’re a leader at work and at home. You grew up with a parent who struggled with workaholism, addiction and/or mental illness. You didn’t get the love you needed but most days you ignore this fact. It’s easier that way. You would rather poke yourself in the eye than feel those heavy feelings. You know you have childhood trauma but if you let yourself acknowledge this, you’re worried you would start crying and not be able to stop. For years you swallowed those tears back down as the fear of not being good enough gnawed at your core.

Lately, you’ve been feeling agitated and irritable. You need relief but finding it is like an itch you can’t scratch. You might drink alcohol or use weed to feel better, but those methods aren’t working as well as they used to. Or maybe you’ve never relied on substances but your OCD is getting out of control. The stove-checking, lock-checking, or counting is starting to feel ridiculous and take over your life, but you do it anyways. You have to. Either way, it feels like you’ve hit the edge. The coping tools you learned in childhood to keep yourself safe and afloat are starting to rust. It’s time for new skills to add to your self-care toolbox. You are losing your shit and it’s time to send up a save-my-sanity flare gun.

I’m here to help.
